For more than fifteen years, The Record Co. has been the safety net for Boston's creative community — opening our doors when artists, festivals, and music spaces are pushed out. BAMS Fest is the latest to find a home with us.
BAMS Fest · 55 Morrissey
When the Boston Art & Music Soul (BAMS) Fest lost its longtime home at Franklin Park, The Record Co. made room — so one of the city's most vital celebrations of Black art and music wouldn't lose its footing.
That's the work we're built for. When a creative organization loses its place, we open our doors. Not a one-time gesture — part of how Boston's creative infrastructure should work.
Again and again, when Boston's creatives have been pushed out, The Record Co. has answered — turning a crisis into a permanent home.
When the Sound Museum was bought out, hundreds of creatives lost their space almost overnight. The Record Co. stepped in alongside ArtStayHere and the City of Boston to outfit 55 Morrissey Blvd. — now home to 400+ businesses at 95% occupancy.
Four years in. Near full. Still operating under a temporary license. We're organizing now to make permanent what the community has already proven it needs.
Beyond crisis response, organizations across Boston's creative and education landscape rely on The Record Co. for space and room to grow — a network far larger than any one building.
As Boston grapples with affordability and the loss of creative space, the data from our community makes the stakes clear.
Professional recording and rehearsal at $10–40/hour — not $100+. Plus TRC Academy, free workforce development for people ages 14–24. Same access, same rates, every session.
One of Boston's largest concentrations of creative entrepreneurs — affordable workspace where artists, makers, and media professionals build real businesses without market-rate pressure.
Every time a creative space disappears, Boston risks losing the people who make it vibrant. With funders, partners, and the city behind us, The Record Co. can keep being the place creatives turn to when they have nowhere else to go.
